UCLA’s Peng Peng Lee!!
Every year the Honda Award for Gymnastics is given to the most prestigious female athlete in NCAA Gymnastics. This years four final nominees consisted of senior Peng Peng, Sarah Finnegan, a junior from LSU, Elizabeth Price, a senior from Stanford, and Maggie Nichols, a sophomore from Oklahoma. However, just weeks after winning a national title individually on beam and as a team at the championships in St. Louis, Peng Peng Lee was crowned the winner of this honorable award. After receiving the award Lee said, “I am extremely honored to be chosen as the winner for the sport of gymnastics. This award is as much mine as it is my teammates’.” With this award, Peng becomes a finalist for other awards such as the Honda Cup and Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year which will be presented on June 25th in Downtown Los Angeles. Many are thrilled with Peng Peng winning the award and have offered their congratulations on social media.
