2017 in a Nutshell – Gymnastics

It started like this –

A sloppy American Cup. Over 3,687,689,900 falls among some 19 gymnasts. However, it’s no reason to worry, it’s the beginning of the season, the year after the Olympics.

Angelina Melnikova became European Floor Champ YAYAYAYAYAYYYYY!!

Summer Season looked like this –

A cleaner U.S. Classic then the American Cup gave us more hope. Oh yeah, and AMAZING ALYONA SCHENIKOVA WON THIS MEET!!

Nationals for the U.S. looked promising. Ragan showed an extremely strong showing. This was her breakout year… or so we thought. Jordan Chiles wolf turn save on day 2 was everyone’s motivation for the next month or so. Also, we began to wonder how we’d survive bars at worlds.

Larisa Iordache dominated Universiade, Romanian Nationals, and basically every other international meet. You know… just Larisa things.

An expected but very heartbreaking retirement from China’s, Shang Chunsong. 🙁

Mailie Okeefe and Emma Malabuyo prove a bright future for the U.S. at the Japan Junior International.

We question why Sam Mikulak is competing legitimately four months after an achilles rupture??

The U.S. men name a questionable yet sturdy all at the same time worlds team!

An incredible Russian Cup. Hardly any falls which is rare from our dramatic Russia. Huge scores from Angelina Melnikova, shining star Eremnia, and underdog Maria Kharenkova.

Worlds were like this-

Injuries, injuries, injuries… Multiple reasons of this Montreal worlds lead to countless amounts of injuries. And injuries to some top contenders, LARISA, RAGAN, and REBECCANOOOOO!

Sam Mikulak gave us some hope but then fell on high bar…

Yul Moladuer stepped up as an underdog leader to be honestly the strongest on the team winning a bronze on floor and ranking 7th in all around at his first ever worlds… GO YUL!!

Elena Eremina, Russia’s superstar and life saver came home with a bronze in the all around, a silver on bars, and most importantly NO FALLS!

Brooklyn Moors won over the world with her dashing elegance!!

Ellie Black came in clutch in her home country winning silver in the all around!!

LEGEND KOHEI IS INJURED OPENING UP THE ALL AROUND GOLD, and the Chinese strategically took advantage of this!!

The year ended like this-

Viktoria Komova returned at the Voronin Cup showing a half decent performance but what can we expect from a returning star after two years off due to injury.

Poor Angelina proved she can’t yet hit a routine… she deserves a break!!

Yul Moldauer and Morgan Hurd are competing at the 2018 AT&T American Cup!! YAY!!

Aliya Mustafina began training again!!

Now here’s to a great 2018 filled with flips and twists!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 🙂

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!! 🙂
